Definition of Workforce Development
Workforce development for youth encompasses a wide range of employment and educational services.
We define workforce development as including the following:

- Building relationships with employers and placing youth in internships or jobs
- Providing programming that exposes youth to careers and/or occupations
- Career and technical education (teaching specific skills for an occupation or craft)
- Work readiness training that provides a general orientation to the world of work, such as punctuality and interpersonal skills (sometimes called soft skills training)
- Entrepreneurship
- GED preparation
- External Diploma Program
- youth programs that incorporate workforce development elements, and
- workforce development programs that serve youth (both those that serve youth exclusively and those that serve youth and adults.)
